Today, I learned a painful lesson about thoroughly washing my hands after touching red chili pepper. We prepared the Sweet Ginger Pork Stir-Fry with Peppers and Snow Peas from our HelloFresh box for dinner.
After cooking everything, I washed my hands, placed the food on the plate, and as we took our first bite, I felt a burning sensation in my right eye. It burns! I probably touched my eye without thinking, and whatever spicy extracts from the red chili pepper were still there. I rewashed my hands and washed my eyes with water. Afterwards, I placed a cold compress over my right eye. The sting was gone after about 5 minutes.
Anyway, time to discuss the food.

Sweet Ginger Pork Stir--Fry with Peppers and Snow Peas
First, I overcooked the rice, which was sticky instead of fluffy. It still did a fantastic job of soaking the umami-packed hoisin sauce and salty soy sauce. Judging by the smell alone, I thought the dish would be too salty, but the combination of ginger, garlic, and sesame oil balanced everything.
The tender-crispy snow peas and sweet bell peppers changed texture with their crunch. For a mildly spicy kick, the red chili pepper was terrific.
This is a delicious dish. I love it!
