Saturday Morning Bliss! Love those weekend mornings for sleeping in, and today was perfect.
After a quick banana breakfast, we strolled across Granville Bridge to Robson Square in Downtown Vancouver for the "Proudly Philippines: Travel and Food Fair" organized by the Philippines Consulate.
My stomach was already rumbling when we arrived, so we made a beeline for Cucina Balai's Pork Barbecue. It came with fluffy rice topped with crispy garlic, a sunny-side-up egg, and a side of atchara (pickled veggies).

This barbecue was different from what I expected. It wasn't the sweet and savoury version I'm used to, but rather a soy sauce-based one. It paired surprisingly well with the rice and the tangy atchara.
Pinoy food definitely holds a special place in my heart, and I'm so glad to be enjoying it here.
