It's the start of a busy Canada Day long weekend that began with an evening at Richmond Night Market with my husband and brother.
The goal tonight is to review the food stalls and see if any new vendors have popped up. Check the updated vendors list here! Then, we feast!
F80. Japanese Rice Bowl Association
My first bite for this evening is Pork Cutlet Curry Don. If you don't already know, Japanese beef curry is my absolute favourite dish, and I haven't had it in 3 months! This is the longest I have survived without a bite of it. Thankfully, the version in Richmond Night Market is what dreams are made of - rich, savoury beef curry stew with thin slices of melt-in-your-mouth beef topped with a perfectly crispy, golden pork cutlet. It came with generous portions of fluffy white rice drenched in the flavourful curry sauce, and the whole thing was just pure comfort food heaven. The Japanese Rice Bowl Association by Japadog knows what they're doing!

S2A. Karaage King
Since we had leftover rice from the curry dish, we decided to get some protein to go with it. Karaage King was the closest source of juicy fried chicken, and I went with the Negishio Salted Lemon. The name might be a mouthful, but the flavours were even better. The chicken was perfectly fried - crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The negishio (a combination of chopped green onions and white miso paste) added a savoury and slightly funky flavour, while the squeeze of lemon helped cut through the richness and grease. It was the perfect balance!

F70. Juice Wonderland
After such a heavy start, we needed something light and refreshing to cleanse the palate. The pineapple banana shake from Juice Wonderland was precisely what we craved. It was a tropical dream come true - sweet and tangy pineapple blended with creamy banana, a perfect balance that was light, cool, and oh-so-refreshing. We enjoyed our drink while walking around to see what else looked interesting.

F27. Taste Good BBQ Squid
Honestly, the last time I was here, the grilled squid was so addictive that I had to have it again. This time, I decided to try a different vendor's version and opted for the spicy version. I love grilled squid! It's chewy, smoky, and has a beautiful ocean flavour. The addition of spice took it to a whole new level - a bit of a kick without overpowering the natural taste of the squid.

F44. Brazilian Waffles
Our last savoury bite for this evening was from the unique (and possibly only representation of the continent of South America) Brazilian Waffles. I got the cheese waffle bites. These little pockets of heaven were crispy and chewy on the outside, with a soft and fluffy interior bursting with cheesy goodness. The cheese filling had a familiar tang we couldn't quite put our finger on, but it was absolutely delicious.

F37. Mango Yummy
My brother got the mango tapioca whipped cream from Mango Yummy. It was a refreshing and surprisingly sweet treat. The chewy tapioca pearls added a fun textural contrast to the creamy sweetness of the mango and whipped cream.

F42. Ho!Nice Yogurt Cube
The last bite of the market was matcha frozen yogurt cubes designed like mahjong tiles from Ho! Nice Yogurt Cube. The presentation was adorable — little green cubes resembling real mahjong tiles! The taste was just as delightful. The matcha had a subtle bitterness that was perfectly balanced by the sweetness of the white chocolate tile design and the tartness of the yogurt. It was a fun and delicious way to end the night!

We enjoyed our yogurt while watching the performances on the stage. It was a fun and delicious way to start Canada Day, a long weekend.
