Fried Chicken Benny and Eggstravaganza from Eggspectation

Happy Saturday! It's been a couple of years since we last visited Eggspectation, and today, the place is packed with Taylor Swift fans.

We started our meal with drinks from their smoothie bar. I tried the Page's Tropical Paradise, which I didn't quite enjoy (I'm not a fan of berries!), so my hubby happily drank the fruity blend of banana, strawberry, blueberry, raspberry, mango, and pineapple mixed with orange juice. I opted for his choice instead, the Tropical Teaser—a refreshing mix of mango, banana, and pineapple, blended smoothly with orange juice.

For our meals, hubby picked the Eggstravaganza, a hearty plate featuring two sunny side up eggs, accompanied by two slices of soft, sweet brioche French toast drizzled with pure maple syrup. It also came with crispy bacon (his favourite!) and Lyonnaise-style potatoes—sautéed potatoes with onions and a touch of seasoning, making them perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. We're currently going through a French toast phase at home, and this dish was a comforting, satisfying choice.

A classic dish! Two large free run eggs (sunny side up), two slices of brioche French toast with pure maple syrup, bacon and Lyobbaise-style potatoes

Meanwhile, I selected what I consider the best brunch item: the Fried Chicken Benny. This dish features a perfectly poached egg, atop a toasted English muffin, with crispy fried chicken smothered in rich, velvety hollandaise sauce. The contrast between the crispy chicken and the creamy sauce was absolutely divine. It’s the perfect combination of savoury and indulgent flavours—truly a comforting brunch.

I also got the chance to say hello to my sister, who was busy working the bar today.

New Spicy Rosé Flatbread Pizza from Tim Hortons

Tim Hortons is our go-to for Sunday breakfast but today we had errands to run and decided to grab dinner in this Canadian icon. We tried the new Spicy Rosé Flatbread Pizza and Pepperoni.

Pepperoni is a classic, and Tim Hortons delivers it with a familiar flavor that’s accessible and well-suited for all ages, especially kids. The blend of cheese and a milder sauce makes it a dependable, fuss-free choice for families. For anyone with younger eaters in tow, this option is straightforward, filling, and easy to enjoy.

A slice of Pepperoni Flatbread Pizza from Tim Hortons

Tim Hortons’ latest flatbread, the Spicy Rosé, takes things up a notch. This one is perfect for someone looking for a more adventurous pizza with complex flavors. The sauce here has a kick, with a creamy yet spicy base that balances beautifully with the toppings. The Spicy Rosé isn’t overwhelming, but it has a heat and depth that feels geared toward an adult palate. If you’re craving something more unique than the typical pizza, this one is worth a try!

I have tried the Bacon Everything and Chicken Parmesan when Tims first launched the flatbread pizza line and Bacon Everything is still my favourite.

Urban Crave in YVR before security

We're off to Australia today! Before boarding our flight, hubby and I decided to grab a quick bite at Urban Crave. I was craving something warm and comforting, so I opted for their Tonkatsu Ramen, while hubby went for the Smoked Cheesesteak sandwich.

As expected, airport food prices were pretty steep. While Urban Crave isn't a Japanese restaurant, I was hoping their Tonkatsu Ramen would be a decent option. Unfortunately, it fell short of my expectations.

Pork broth, panko crusted, pork cutlet, soft egg, ramen noodles, and scallions

Smoked Cheesesteak with house-made chips from Urban Crave
Montreal smoked beef, provolone, sauteed peppers, crispy onions, and baguette

Hubby's Smoked Cheesesteak, on the other hand, was quite enjoyable. If you're looking for a satisfying sandwich at the airport, I'd definitely recommend it. For my next trip, I'm eyeing the Grilled Chicken Avocado. It sounds like a healthier and more flavorful choice.
