Little Bacon Cheeseburger from Five Guys Burgers & Fries

It's Thursday, which means free (company-paid) lunch! This week's theme is burgers; my colleague suggested Five Guys Burgers & Fries.

I ordered a Little Bacon Cheeseburger with all-the-way topping and regular cajun-style fries.

Fresh, hand-formed patty hot off the grill with American-style cheese and strips of crispy apple-wood smoked bacon on top. Add as many toppings as you want.

Let's start! The buns arrived soggy, which is to be expected of delivered food. The beef was not as juicy as I'd liked, but it's possible that the buns absorbed all the goodness. The toppings are standard fare, but the bacon is the best. I'm not a fan of bacon, but that was perfectly crispy, adding much-needed texture to the burger.

Their fries are not made for delivery, which makes sense and is acceptable. The fries of Popeyes have better cajun seasoning.

Mother's Day Lunch Celebration from SURA Korean BBQ (Hazelbridge)

Happy Mother's Day to all moms! After more than a month, we went to Richmond today to spend the day with Mama and my siblings.

We also watched the Vancouver Whitecaps FC game against Montreal, and we won! Thank God!

Anyway, for our lunch celebration, we ordered from SURA Korean BBQ. I loved and enjoyed all the dishes we ordered.

Which dish will I totally order again? The galbi. The sauce is delicious! Although, I couldn't justify the price for the serving size.

I can't believe that after a year we're still celebrating at home. Hopefully, next year we enjoy mom's favourite dishes in her favourite Korean restaurant. We actually miss grilling Korean BBQ in a Korean restaurant.

Hubby's birthday cake from Yum Sweet Shop

Happy birthday to my dearest husband! I asked him what he'd like for his birthday and he said ice cream cake because he hasn't had it. I was planning to order from Marble Slab Creamery, but they were close yesterday. I was scrambling to find another ice cream cake vendor. I need a small one since if we get the big ones from Dairy Queen, it will be too big for our fridge.

I found Yum Sweet Shop! Hubby is happy with his ice cream cake and I enjoyed my red velvet cake as well. The best part is we could finish it without having leftovers!

Valentine's Day lunch delivery from Basil Pasta Bar

I have no idea why but my idea of a romantic meal involves pasta. I was searching for the best pasta places nearby, but I kept coming back to Basil Pasta Bar because I am certain that it will be delicious and that I won't be disappointed (as long as I don't add extra cheese to everything LOL).

A delicious pesto shrimp linguine made with pesto cream sauce, shrimp, spinach, and white wine. This dish is garnished with basil and Parmesan cheese.

Maple Bacon Conchiglie
Maple bacon conchiglie made with marinara sauce, pure maple syrup, bacon, red onions, mushrooms, red peppers, and corn. This dish is garnished with mozzarella cheese and fresh basil.

A thick soup made with vegetables.

Tiramisu
Dark roast espresso coffee between layers of creamy mascarpone mousse blended with rich coffee liqueur, and topped with fluffy whipped cream.

I love both pasta we ordered today! Yay! I can't wait to try more of their dishes. #supportlocal

Super Bowl dinner delivery from Colony Bar Kits

Happy Sunday! It's Super Bowl night. I'm not rooting for one team - I dislike them both. 🤣 However, I will use the Super Bowl as an excuse to order from Colony Bar Kits.

Colony Bar is a great place to watch the Super Bowl. They have a lot of TVs and monitors, but because of the pandemic we have decided to stay home and just order in.

Colony Poutine - Hand Chipped Kennebec Potatoes, Cheese Curds, Beef Gravy

The Colony Bar chain is part of La Poutine Week and I enjoyed their poutine. It's delicious - cheese curds, gravy, and French fries. Yum!

C.B. Burger with Yam Fries - 100% CAB Beef Patty, Aged Cheese, Butter Lettuce, Tomato, Red Onion, Pickles, Burger Sauce

Hubby ordered the C.B Burger with Yam Fries and both was delicious. This food made me realize how much I miss going to pubs and bar (especially if they have great food).

Crunchy Chicken Sandwich with Panko Onion Rings

The chicken from Storm Crow yesterday is bigger, crunchier, and juicier than the one from Colony. However, this one is more flavourful. I love the arugula.

Warmed Chocolate Lava Cake

Colony Bar gets point for the containers they used for the Lava Cake, but minus points for not putting the ice cream in a separate small container so we can put it in the fridge  and reheat the lava cake separately then enjoy them together. It's no worries though since it was delicious.

I am happy to support La Poutine Week and discover more local restaurants in Vancouver. I can't wait for more food events this year.

La Poutine Week delivery from Storm Crow Alehouse

We started watching the Korean series Guardian: The Lonely and Great God last night and want to support restaurants part of La Poutine Week this February 1-7, so we end up ordering from Storm Crow Alehouse. Coincidentally, they serve Korean-inspired poutine called "Bibimbap-Ity-Boo Brisket Poutine."

Bibimbap-Ity-Boo Brisket Poutine
Hand-punched fries, cheese curds, smothered in a house-made beef gochujang gravy, topped with slow-roasted brisket, crispy portobello mushrooms, pickled onions, and a delicious soft poached egg.

The egg and mushrooms were the best part of the poutine. The brisket and gravy were too salty for my liking.

Basic Dungeon Burger with extra bacon
Slow your roll, start basic with our house made beef patty, romaine lettuce, tomato, onion, storm sauce and pickle spear.

Cluckin' Chicken Sandwich
Apocalyptically delicious and crispy double-battered boneless chicken thigh, with shredded romaine and storm sauce. Served on a toasted bunship.

I love the fried chicken inside the sandwich! The outside is crunchy and crispy while the inside is juicy. I would be happy to order just boneless fried chicken from Storm Crow. This is such a revelation.

Bread Pudding topped with vanilla ice cream!

We reheated the pudding in the microwave for a minute then took out the one scoop of ice cream they delivered from the fridge. I like the edges of the pudding because it's crunchy.

Lunch delivery from Hokkaido Ramen Santouka

Happy Sunday! It's the last day of the month, and hubby said that we should order ramen.

Two-level containers with soup at the bottom and the noodles and toppings at the top.

Hubby loves the containers for the ramen! The soup is at the bottom, while the noodles and toppings are at the top of the container. You just need to pour the container's top floor to the bottom floor to have your ramen mixed together.

Kara-Miso Cha-Shu Ramen - Seasoned with hot spices and miso (fermented soybean paste). Egg noodles, a double portion of pork belly, green onions, black mushrooms, fishcake, bamboo shoots, and sesame seeds.

I love the egg noodles in the ramen. It has a nice bite, and it's perfectly cooked (not soggy), and the cha-shu (pork belly) is fatty and melts in your mouth. However, I did find the broth too salty. It could be me and my overall low salt tolerance.

Toroniku Shio Ramen - Pork broth seasoned with salt. Simmered pork jowl(cheek), bamboo shoot, mushroom, green onion, naruto fish cake, Japanese plum and sesame seed.

Zangi - Deep-fried chicken 

I have no idea why it's called zangi and not kara-age. (A few moments later). I did a quick Google Search, and kara-age is what the Japanese called fried chicken. However, in Hokkaido, they call kara-age, zangi. The cooking is different as well. When cooking zangi, you marinate the chicken first, but this is not done in kara-age. 

Gyoza - Japanese fried pork dumplings (five pieces)

A reminder for future me: don't order Gyoza next time even though you love dumplings. Get two orders of the fried chicken instead.

Happy Friday! Hubby had a company-paid lunch. I ordered lunch for myself too.

Donair Pro has replaced Donair Spot (blog post here and here) in 403 West Broadway. The falafel was delicious. I requested meat, but they forgot.

I wonder what happened to the previous owner of Donair Spot. I went there twice, and he's such a nice, funny man.

We watched Touch Your Heart Korean series, and they kept eating at Subway. 🥪 Because of the series and because Green Bay Packers and Buffalo Bills both lost their games today, I need to stress eat, so we ordered from Subway.

Hubby ordered a 6" Chicken and Bacon Ranch Sub Melt Combo with two White Chip Macadamia Nut Cookies and  Brisk® Lemon Iced Tea. I picked Chicken Caesar Large Wrap with Savory Caesar sauce. I prefer the Chipotle Steak & Guac Wrap last time.

Happy Saturday! It's NFL Divisional Round Weekend and Pokemon GO Community Day, which has no relation to why we ordered pizza. 😆 For lunch, we ordered from Papa John's for the first time. It's actually my first time trying Papa John's Pizza ever.

It's my first time trying Papa John's Pizza, and I still prefer Pizza Hut. However, I love their dough. Though the pizza doesn't have enough sauce. My youngest sister described it perfectly that a great pizza needs to have the right dough, cheese, and sauce ratio. This one doesn't have that.

7-Cheese Stuffed Cheesesticks ❤

The 7-Cheese Stuffed Cheesesticks are my favourite thing we got so far. It's cheesy and gooey on the inside and crunchy on the outside.

Jalapeno Popper Rolls 👍

The Jalapeno Popper Rolls is obviously spicy. I think the one from Pizza Pizza is better because that one is cheesy and spicy. This one is just spicy.

Papa's Chicken Poppers 👌

It's chicken, how can you go wrong? I don't think I have a favourite chicken sidekick from the different pizza places I have tried because they taste the same.

Double Chocolate Chip Brownie ❤

The only other pizza place (that I know) that serves brownies is Pizza Hut, and I like this one better. It's chewy and moist on the inside. The edges and crunchy, but it's mostly fudgy. I like it. Hubby prefers the one from Pizza Hut.

Happy NFL Wild Card Round weekend! Today is the first time we're ordering for the year. I miss The Wicklow Pub, specifically their delicious Yorkshire Pudding so that's where we ordered for lunch.

Merry Christmas! For dinner today, I decided to order from Burger King. We wanted popcorn from Cineplex since we're planned on watching Pixar's Soul today, but Cineplex is closed. As a substitute, I want french fries and we end up ordering from Burger King.

Lunch delivery from Pho Xe Lua 24

Happy Saturday! We played Pokemon GO for like 30 minutes outside then it started raining. I realized the outside world felt so dirty when it's wet and when you're outside. I like the rain when I'm indoors getting cozy under a blanket.

For today, we ordered pho to warm us up. I love the pho from Pho Xe Lua 24 today. I am not crazy about their sides but the delicious soup made everything better.
